When in need of a timeless Civilian Bicycle Company logo I called on Mr. Jeremy "Jerms" Lanningham; the creative guru behind the one-man graphic design firm, NKTRNL. Despite his unfortunate nickname, Jerms is a brilliant designer. He has an incredible knack for combining different styles into a harmonious piece of artwork.
Ever find yourself riding around the East Village of Lower Manhattan and want to check out a unique bike shop, head for NYC Velo. A concept store it is not! This is a place as unique as the neighborhood in which it resides. Ask for Andy, he’s the owner, and if you say I sent you he’ll give you a free cup of coffee. True story.
Anyone riding the urban jungle can tell you just how dicey it can be. Enter Laek House, a NYC-based clothing company making goods for the cycling lifestyle. What makes them cycling friendly, you ask? Well, their ELVS (Enhanced Light Visibility System) line of shirts and sweatshirts will make even the surliest of cabbies recognize.
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather spend my time in the dirt than reading some wordy trail guide telling me where the best photo op is – Yo Jack, I can see, just get me to the trailhead, already! That said, if you ride the mountains around the Big Wood River Valley (home to a little ski resort known as Sun Valley) check out trailweb.net. It’s quick, easy and comprehensive. Enough said.
