BEING 6’6” AND BEING A CYCLIST -
A NATURAL FIT IT CERTAINLY IS NOT.
That said, I never rode a production bike that didn't lead to pain and frustration. So I built one for myself. And a passion for crafting a ride as unique as the rider was born. Few things in this world inspire me as much as the beauty, efficiency and craftsmanship of a well-designed, hand-built bicycle.
Every Civilian frame is handcrafted in Portland, Oregon because that’s where I live. But, before landing in the Beaver State, I cut my teeth in Northern California learning the trade from a master frame builder. After soaking in some know-how, I tackled a handful of frames on my own, ultimately giving me the confidence to branch out and launch Civilian.
From my days as a teen wrenching in bike shops to competing on the local race circuit to perfecting my craft as a frame builder the bicycle has always meant more to me than simply a way to get from over here to over there. It’s become a part of who I am. This is reflected in every frame.
